TheDock use a flexible system to create your Layout, but to help you remain consistent and stringent in your design, a set of options for width and spacing are used in tandem with a twelve column grid.
Paddings and spacings in your theme are defined in a 4 step range from Small to Huge. The values are relative to your Base size (set under Typography).
The controls for spacing in your theme are separated divided in to regular controls using range sliders for groups of settings, and advanced settings where you can define each value specifically.
Under ’Advanced’ you can change the default value for each part of the system by clicking the label above each value. The default is identified by the blue dot. The default value can be assigned in your layout, which means the value will change according to which option is set to default.
Each section in your layout have a width defined, from Small to Full width (100%). By using the default option (indicated in the layout builder by the blue dot) you can easily change the width of all content, in all sections, using a single control.
