All Typography in TheDock’s Design System is based on a base size so you can easily scale all your typography simultaneously. The same base size is also used to ensure that margins, paddings and other parts of your layout scale accordingly.
Base Size
There are 5 options to select from when setting your base size for medium sized screens like laptops. The outer values in the range are trimmed on very small (mobile) or very large (wide desktops) screens. What size will be used on each typ of screen is indicated next to the "Size" label.
Typographic Scale
TheDock ships with 5 different typographic sets in a scale from Huge to Small. These 5 sets are available as options for any text-based block in your layout. Adjustments to a set will manifest instantly in all blocks using that set.
While you are free to change these sets in anyway you like, the system will highlight when you stray from the intended scale.
Text Max Length
Many blocks have a maximum width option relative to the Base size rather than screen width (which the column grid is relative to). These max lengths are a smooth way to limit the width of blocks to a readable text length without tieing them to screen width (which might make the same block to narrow on smaller screens).
